Indicators: Helpful Guides, Not Magic Signals
Risk warning: No indicator predicts the future. This is education, not financial advice.
An indicator is a helper, not a prophet. It sums past prices and shows them as a line.
What indicators do
- Trend helpers — Moving Average shows direction (like the river in Trends).
- Momentum helpers — RSI shows if price moved fast up or down.
They lag — they form after price moves. By the time they say "buy", price may already have moved.
Common mistakes
- Adding 5 indicators and waiting for all to agree — you will miss the move.
- Trading every cross as a signal — you will overtrade.
- Trusting "VIP signals" from Telegram groups. See Signal Seller Scams: Why Free VIP Groups Drain Wallets.
How to use one well
Pick one indicator. Learn it on a demo for two weeks in London/New York hours (8am–10pm WAT) with a small ₦15,000 / ~$10 test. Keep your stop loss and 1% risk (₦150). See The 1% Rule.
More in Your First Trade walkthrough.
Rate used: ~₦1,500 / $1. Small amounts like ₦150 use same rate.
Bottom line: Use one indicator as guide, not prophecy, keep your stop, or you risk overtrading on lagging lines. Links To Guides: Pillar 3 (Beginner Setup).
