Red Flags: Signs a Broker Wants Your Money Gone

Risk warning: If you see these flags, do not fund. This is education, not financial advice.

Bad brokers look nice at first. Then they block your money. Learn the flags early.

6 flags to watch

1. No licence number. The site shows no FCA/CySEC number, or the number does not match on the regulator's site.

2. Guaranteed profit. "Double your ₦50,000 / ~$33 in 7 days" or "90% win rate, risk-free." No honest broker promises profit.

3. Pushy agent on WhatsApp/Telegram. "Send to this GTBank/Access personal account, I will fund for you." Real brokers use an official funding page, not a person's account.

4. Bonus that locks withdrawal. "Get 100% bonus, but you must trade 50 lots before withdrawal." Bonuses often trap you.

5. Withdrawal fees that appear late. Fees, taxes, or "release payments" only when you try to cash out.

6. Many withdrawal complaints. Search the broker's name + "withdrawal Nigeria" — if many traders in Lagos/Abuja report blocked funds, believe them.

When you see a flag

For the safe checklist, see The Complete Guide to Choosing a Forex Broker in Nigeria (2026) and The Complete Guide to Forex Safety (2026).

Rate used: ~₦1,500 / $1. Small amounts like ₦150 use same rate.

Bottom line: Spot no licence, guaranteed profit and WhatsApp agents early and walk away, or you risk bonus traps that lock your naira. Links To Guides: Pillar 4 (Safety).
