How to Deposit to a Forex Account from GTBank and Access Bank

Risk warning: Bank transfers for forex can be blocked. This is education, not financial advice. Never send to a personal account on WhatsApp.

You can deposit from GTBank, Access Bank, or UBA in 10 minutes. You use the broker's official Deposit page only. You verify every detail before you tap send.

Before you start

You need three things ready. This avoids a failed transfer.

First, you verify the broker's licence. You check the regulator site, not a banner. See How to Verify Regulation. Skip this and you risk sending naira to a scam.

Second, you confirm KYC. Most brokers ask for BVN or NIN and an ID. Your broker name must match your bank name. See Protect Your Account.

Third, you set a test amount. Start with ₦15,000 / ~$10. Keep your bank app updated and your daily limit high enough.

Steps

Follow these four steps. Do not skip the reference.

1. Get official details — copy from broker only. Log in to your broker portal. Tap Deposit → Bank Transfer. You see bank name, account number, account name, and reference. Copy them exactly. The account name should be a company. If you see a personal name, stop.

2. Transfer from your bank app — use exact reference. Open your GTBank, Access Bank, or UBA app. Paste the account number and confirm the name. Enter ₦15,000 / ~$10 for your first test. Type the exact reference in the narration. This links your transfer to your account. Think of it like a bus ticket — no ticket, no seat. Save the receipt as PDF.

3. Upload proof — confirm in portal. Return to the broker portal. Tap Upload Proof. Attach your receipt and submit. You will see pending. Most brokers credit in 5 minutes to 4 hours. Do not send again while you wait.

4. Check balance — verify in MT4/MT5. Open MT4 or MT5 and check Balance. You should see ~$10. If not, contact Live Chat with your receipt.

Fees and time

Know cost, speed, and limits before you send.

Fees. Most transfers cost ₦10 to ₦50. Your broker should not charge for naira deposits. Your bank may add ₦50 stamp duty.

Time. Same-bank transfers are often instant. Cross-bank takes 5 to 30 minutes. Broker review adds 1 to 4 hours. After 24 hours with no credit, contact support.

Limits. Your bank app has a daily transfer limit. Many set it to ₦1 million or more. Raise it in Settings → Transfer Limits. Start with ₦15,000 / ~$10.

If blocked

Some transfers get blocked. The CBN limits direct naira funding for retail forex. Your bank must follow that rule.

If you see blocked or restricted, do not retry the same way.

You have three options.

First, try a different bank. GTBank may block while Access or UBA allows it. Try once with a small amount.

Second, use USDT on Binance P2P. You buy USDT from a verified seller with naira, then send USDT to your broker. See USDT via Binance P2P. This often works when bank transfer fails.

Third, pause and learn. If all banks block, you learn the P2P steps first. You do not send to a friend of a friend.

Never write forex in the narration if the broker says use client ID only.

Test withdrawal

You test withdrawal early. This proves the pipe works both ways.

After deposit shows, withdraw a small amount. Try ₦5,000 / ~$3. Send it to the same bank you funded from. Most brokers require this for anti-fraud.

You check three things. Did it arrive? How long did it take? Was there a fee? If it takes over 48 hours, ask support. See Withdrawal Problems.

You do not add more money until the test succeeds. For risk control, you risk only 1% per trade. See Position Sizing and Leverage and Margin.

Safety checklist

Use this list each time.

  • You copied from the official Deposit page, not WhatsApp.
  • Your broker name matches your bank name and BVN/NIN.
  • You typed the exact reference in the narration.
  • You sent a small test of ₦15,000 / ~$10 first.
  • You saved the receipt with date and reference.
  • You never shared BVN password, PIN, or OTP.
  • You enabled 2FA on broker and email. See Protect Your Account.

If any box is unchecked, you stop.

Troubleshooting

Fix most issues with your receipt.

Deposit pending. Wait 4 hours. Check Transaction History. If still pending, send the receipt to Live Chat.

Wrong reference. You forgot the reference. Contact support with receipt, time, and client ID. It may take 24 hours.

Name mismatch. Your bank says “Chinedu Okoro” but broker says “C. Okoro”. Update your profile to match your NIN.

Debited but not credited. Check for reversal. Many reverse in 30 minutes to 24 hours. If no reversal, call your bank with session ID.

Limit exceeded. Raise your limit in the app or split the amount.

Next steps

You proved the deposit works. Now you protect capital.

You practice risk per trade on demo. You use a stop-loss each trade — your brake pedal. You learn leverage — borrowed cutlass — so you do not cut yourself. See Leverage and Margin.

Next, you read USDT via Binance P2P for a backup route. You also bookmark How to Verify Regulation.

Rate used: ~₦1,500 / $1. Small amounts like ₦150 use same rate.

Bottom line: Send ₦15,000 / ~$10 via GTBank or Access with the exact reference. Test a ₦5,000 withdrawal before you add more.
