Withdrawal Problems: Why Your Profit May Stay Stuck
Risk warning: Withdrawal traps are common with bad brokers. This is education, not financial advice. Test withdrawals early.
Profit on the screen means nothing if you cannot withdraw it. You need a broker who pays you fast to your bank or wallet.
You will learn why withdrawals get stuck in Nigeria and how you test early. You will see the three traps and what you do when funds delay.
It links to the parent guide The Complete Guide to Forex Funding and Payments in Nigeria (2026).
Test early with small withdrawal
You test the broker before you trust it. You fund small, then you withdraw small.
- Fund small — deposit ₦15,000 / ~$10 to a Cent account. Use the official Deposit page.
- Trade small — risk ₦150 with a stop-loss (your brake pedal). See Why Most Beginners Lose.
- Withdraw small — request ₦5,000 / ~$3 back to the same method. Watch the clock.
- Decide fast — if ₦5,000 / ~$3 takes more than 3 days, stop. Do not add more naira.
This test costs little. It saves you from a big stuck profit later.
A good broker pays the small test in hours. A bad broker asks for new fees or goes silent.
Common traps
Most stuck withdrawals come from three traps. You can spot each one before you fund.
Bonus trap
You deposit ₦15,000 / ~$10 and the broker adds ₦15,000 / ~$10 bonus. It looks free.
The trap hides in the terms. You must trade 30 to 50 lots before withdrawal. You will not reach that with a small account.
Some bonuses lock your real naira. You cannot withdraw your own deposit until you meet the target.
What you do: avoid bonuses if you want clean withdrawals. Ask support to remove the bonus. See Red Flags and Unregulated Broker Scams.
Fee trap
A fee trap adds a new charge only at withdrawal. You did not see it when you deposited.
You hear this in Nigeria: "pay release fee to unlock profit." Real brokers do not work this way.
Real fees show before you fund. They sit on the Fees page. They are small, like $2 per withdrawal.
What you do: read the withdrawal page before you fund. Screenshot the fees. Refuse any new fee at payout.
Verification trap
A verification trap blocks withdrawal with new ID requests. The broker said you were verified, then asks again.
It is normal to ask for NIN slip or International Passport early. It is not normal to ask three times with blurry excuses.
Some brokers ask for BVN password or OTP on WhatsApp. Never share that.
Share NIN or BVN only on the portal. See Protect Your Account.
What you do: verify before you fund. Upload clear photos. Check that your name matches your GTBank or Access account.
Why delays happen
Not every delay is a scam. You should know the normal reasons.
Bank blocks. Some banks block forex tags. The broker may use a local partner to send naira. The CBN sets rules for how naira moves.
Method mismatch. You fund via GTBank but withdraw via Binance P2P USDT. Many brokers need the same method. Mix and they hold it.
Wrong network. You pick the wrong USDT network and funds get lost. Your broker sends on TRC20, you give ERC20. Copy the address right.
Weekends. Requests on Friday night in Lagos wait till Monday. Abuja holidays also pause payouts.
No licence. Without a licence, no regulator pushes them to pay. See Red Flags.
If delay is under 24 hours with a receipt, wait. If it passes 3 days, treat it as a trap.
What to do when stuck
Your withdrawal sits on pending. Use this plan.
- Check portal — what status do you see? Note date and amount. Screenshot it.
- Check receipt — did you use the same method? Does the name match your ID?
- Contact support — use live chat inside the portal. Send receipt and screenshots.
- Wait 24 hours — bank and P2P can take a day. Note the reply.
- Ask deadline — ask when they will pay. Save the answer.
- Stop funding — if one small withdrawal fails, do not send more naira.
- Keep proof — save chats, receipts from GTBank, Access, UBA, or Binance P2P.
Never pay a new release fee to get your own naira. Real brokers deduct fees. See Unregulated Broker Scams.
If the amount is large — for example ₦200,000 / ~$133 — pause and talk to your bank.
Safety checklist before you fund
Use this list for every new broker.
- Licence check — find the licence number, then check it on FCA or CySEC. Name must match.
- Official page only — fund only from Deposit page. Never send to a personal GTBank account on WhatsApp.
- Read rules — find fees, time, and method rules. Screenshot them.
- Verify early — upload NIN slip or International Passport. Make names match.
- Test small — deposit ₦15,000 / ~$10, then withdraw ₦5,000 / ~$3.
- Secure account — turn on 2FA, keep BVN and OTP private. See Protect Your Account.
Tip: fund with the same path you will withdraw. If you fund with Binance P2P USDT on TRC20, withdraw same way.
