About KoboFX
Last updated: 1 October 2026
KoboFX is an independent forex education site for beginners worldwide — built to be the opposite of the scam groups it was created to fight. Nigeria was our first market.
Who runs KoboFX
KoboFX is run by Iriss Lee, founder and editor — trading forex for 3 years, based in Vietnam. I watched traders — people I knew and strangers alike — lose money to "VIP signal" groups on WhatsApp and Telegram: screenshots of fake profits, pressure to deposit fast, mentors who vanished the moment a withdrawal failed.
I am not a broker, not a signal seller, and not a financial adviser. I research, write, and maintain everything on this site myself. Read the full author profile or reach me directly at irisslee95@gmail.com — questions, corrections, and scam reports all go to the same inbox and all get read.
Why KoboFX exists — from Nigeria to global
Most beginner forex content falls into two groups: paid signal groups promising easy money, and generic guides that ignore what trading from an emerging market actually involves — local funding, P2P transfers, and unregulated brokers.
I started with Nigeria because the scam playbook there mirrors exactly what I saw in those WhatsApp and Telegram groups: the same fake-profit screenshots, the same pressure tactics, the same unregulated brokers. The victims change country; the script stays the same.
So KoboFX starts with honest, risk-first education that works anywhere, with Nigeria guides kept as our first local hub. If a broker has a weakness, we say so. If a "mentor" tactic looks like a scam we have seen before, we name it. If a strategy is likely to lose money, we say that too. Start with our guide to signal-seller scams or the real scam stories from Lagos and Abuja.
Editorial standards
- Plain language first. Every guide is written to be understood by a complete beginner. If a sentence needs jargon, we explain the jargon.
- Risk warnings are not decoration. Articles about trading carry risk warnings because CFD trading genuinely carries high risk — most retail traders lose money.
- Facts come from primary sources. Broker details (minimum deposits, regulation, platforms) come from the brokers' own websites and documents. When brokers change their terms, we update our reviews.
- Corrections are welcome. Spotted an error? Email us and we will fix it.
How we make money
KoboFX is free to read and funded by affiliate commissions. If you open a broker account through a link on this site, the broker may pay us a commission — at no extra cost to you.
This does not change our ratings. Every review discloses its partner code, and our rating methodology explains exactly how scores are assigned. We only feature brokers we consider suitable for beginners, and we name their regulators so you can verify the licence yourself.
What KoboFX is not
KoboFX is not a broker, does not accept deposits, and does not manage money. Nothing on this site is financial advice or a trading signal. Trading foreign exchange and CFDs carries a high risk of losing money — never trade with funds you cannot afford to lose.
